A New Year Begins
"If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough." Meister Eckhart.
This last while we have been reflecting on the importance of gratitude in our lives. And then this morning we awoke in a winter wonderland. While it was still dark we sat in our family room enjoying our freshly ground coffee, and listening and watching the wind and snow blowing outside. We were certainly aware that this would be a difficult morning for some to get to work.
Still, the fireplace warmed our bodies and our hearts, and Myko, our Himalayan cat, kept us company.
As the morning unfolded, we put on parkas and boots and headed for the woods that are not far from our home. There is something almost magical to be in the woods when there is a storm. Snow adheres to the branches and tracks are plentiful. Beyond the usual tracks, a lonely turkey track was evident. I wonder where the rest of the flock are at this time of the day. We are grateful for the beauty that surrounds us.
This year has quickly coming to a close and it is with openness and hearts full of gratitude that we move forward into 2020.
