Are you covered under extended health benefits or EAP?

Yes. If you have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) or Employee Benefits, psychotherapists are covered under most plans. 

Check with your Employee Assistance Program Provider or your company’s Human Resources department. Ask them:

  • Do I have coverage for counselling with a registered psychotherapist?

  • What is my allowable coverage total per person per year?

  • Does my plan require practitioners to be clinically supervised by a psychologist? 

We will provide you with a receipt that includes a registration number for reimbursement on approved EAPs and health care benefit plans. 

Are your services tax deductible?

Yes. In Ontario, the services of registered psychotherapists are authorized as “medical practitioners” and can be claimed as a medical expense when filing your tax return.

 

Is therapy confidential?

In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all conversations between

a client and a psychotherapist.

We do not disclose information without your written permission. However,

there are some rare exceptions to this rule (all involving risk and/or

emergency) such as:

  • An intent to harm one’s self or others (including risk of harm to children and dependents)

  • Disclosure of harm by a health professional (no matter how long ago)

  • A court order

Is your online platform secure and how do I access it?

Our online platform is a secure HIPAA, PHIPA and GDPR compliant online therapy and practice management platform that brings therapists and clients together anytime anywhere via a simple, secure, encrypted live online audio video connection.

As a new client you will be prompted to register for our services which will make our communication - written, audio and video - seemless. Once the quick registration proces is complete, you will be able to schedule your own appointments and pay for your sessions easily and with complete confidence. What is your cancelation policy?

We understand that things come up, and choices need to be made which can change your schedules. 

We respectfully request 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your session. Charges apply to sessions canceled within 24 hours.

Do you offer a sliding scale?

As private practitioners, our services are fee-based. We are not able to provide a sliding scale. If cost is a barrier to you, please see our resources page for recommendations of free services.

Do you offer a complementary "get to know one another" session?

 

Yes, we would be delighted to talk with you, online or by phone, in order for you to determine if we are a good fit. Email Teresa or Marisa for your complementary 20 minute session.

How do I pay?

You may pay via e-transfer or cheque. Further details on how to do this will be provided once you have registered as a client.
