Bodhi Day Retreat 2019

You're Invited to Our Celebration!

Occasion:  2019 Bodhi Retreat

Date: Saturday, December 7, 2019

Time:  9:30 a.m. to around 4:30 p.m.

Invitees: Friends we know and friends we haven't met

Cost:  $30 [ for lunch and a donation to a local charity]

Bodhi Day, which takes place each year in December, celebrates the day in which Siddhartha Gautama sat underneath the Bodhi tree and attained enlightenment, an event that would become the foundation upon which Buddhism has been building for over 2,500 years.

On this day, we reaffirm the timeless principles of Buddhism:  enlightenment, compassion, and kindness to other living creatures. We may also wish to reflect on ways in which we can apply these principles to life in our modern world.

You are all welcome to join us!  Our gathering will begin with coffee and fellowship at 9:30 a.m., followed by the start of the formal retreat at 10:00 a.m.  The celebration will include chanting, meditation and a Dharma talk; and the retreat is open to friends already familiar with our tradition and anyone who may be interested in a quiet day of seasonal reflection.

This year, two special events will take place:  our Bodhi Day celebration will include a Ceremony of Ordination for Jennifer Adam and Admission to Amida Shu for Wendy Boyle.

Half-Day Retreats

A word about our Retreats:

A retreat, even if only for a half-day, is time set apart to be in the quiet, to reflect and get in touch with the deeper, often neglected, parts of ourselves. It is an opportunity for renewal.

Our half-day retreats come in a four-part series, allowing you sufficient time to truly engage with the theme in a personal way.

Some retreats include group discussion; others do not. Regardless, the purpose remains the same:  each offers a time to be silent, restore balance, re-connect with your personal centre, and recommit to the care of our world.

To register, please send an email to Prajna herePayment must be received by one week prior to the retreat at the latest, either via online transfer or by cheque. You will be given further instructions when you register.
